Message and Photos from Stuart Naylor

It was really good to catch of with so many people a few Sundays ago. I have put my nicads on cycle and have identified a few ridges near the house, I doubt the few sheep around will be quite the same company! I have enclosed a couple of photos taken at 23500’ during completion of my final diamond – height in October last year. If anyone wants to visit our field they are more than welcome – details at www.highglide.co.uk
Cheers and hope to see you all again soon,
Stuart Naylor

I am glad to see the Goal and Return cup back in the melting pot. My apologies for the retention of it for a while, but it had been packed with our kit when we moved over to France. Now it is back I wish all the guys who try good luck!!

The first time I won the cup was by nominating and then flying from the East facing bowl on Rodborough to The Bear. At the Bear I had a pint of 6X, still flying my ‘Middlefishtwohaze’ (Middle phase two ish) (but after that walk and a pint who cares?) and then back to the starting point and a very good landing. I cheated in that I got Frances, my lovely wife, to get the 6X for me and I stood outside while she ordered it and then I drank it. I have got to admit that it was a bit tricky at times trying to keep the model, actually a Middle Phase fuz with a Sid King Topline 80 inch polyhedral wing, in the air and in site above the Bear, amongst the trees.

Good luck to anyone that takes a shot at the trophy. I always wanted the trip to Tom Long’s Post from the East bowl on Rodborough and back. That’s very hard to do and harder to beat!!! My one try at that goal ended with me landing a 12 foot model in the rough ground on the left as you drive into the car park at the Bear. Don Chatterton was my witness of the landing and was even more surprised than me that I got it in safely. Bloody lucky or what?!

Our life here in the South of France is lovely and the only real thing that I miss is my family and that must include the members of the SCSA that I have know for such a long time. Long may our club prosper. Some day I will be back to visit!

Take care,

John Fairbairn.

P.S. Don’t forget to get some height, the lift is better up there!!!

Sad about Soar Bits!
