Photos from the slopes

From: John Bennett et al

Phil hefting his Charisma into the sky. There was not much in the way of slope lift, but there were some good thermals around, and lots of sink in between. With a launch like that, who need thermals anyway?

Phil’s specially shaped transmitter aerial, which radiates more power than a standard straight one. (Actually he trapped it in a car door.)

Never fly over your head it could cause a neck injury, who would make such a basic mistake?

More safety tips for Li-Poly batteries

From: Mark Durham

I enjoyed reading through Phil's list of safety tips for using Li-Poly batteries. However, I think he has missed off a few rather important points:

  • Never sit on a Li-Poly battery for prolonged periods
  • Never throw a Li-Poly battery in the park and then ask Fido to, 'go fetch'
  • Never wear a Li-Poly battery as an item of jewellery such as earrings, tongue stud or navel pendant or broach, etc
  • Never fit a Li-Poly battery to a pace-maker or hearing aid (unless it belongs to the mother-in-law)
There must be many, many more good safety tips out there.
